Personal Responsibilities

While students are away from home they have the opportunity to begin to accept responsibility for their actions. Regardless of where your child goes to school, there are fundamental expectations of them to be polite, punctual, kind, considerate and presentable at all times. Also it is important to encourage open communication between the student, guardians, parents and the school. With the technology available today, for example, E-Mail, and mobile phone there is now no excuse for failing to keep in touch on a regular basis. It is essential that, when students are not in lessons, they keep their mobile phones switched on, especially when they are staying with host families during school holidays, so that they can be easily contacted at all times.
In addition, whilst your child is at school it is vital to remember that every institution has rules and regulations, which have usually been arrived at over many years. Whether you agree with them or not, you must accept that they are there for a good cause and, by accepting a place at the school, you have agreed to follow them.

Drugs

OPDS takes the view that drug taking or being in possession of drugs is unacceptable while the student is in the United Kingdom. We will, therefore, wholly support the policy of each individual school on this subject and parents should be fully informed before they agree to accept an offer from a school. Most schools will not tolerate breaking this code of conduct and expulsion is often the immediate result. Many schools insist on random drug testing as a deterrent and, by accepting an offer from the school you will have online pokies for real money implicitly accepted all their Terms and Conditions, including this one.
If a student is expelled, no compensation can be expected from the school in respect of fees already paid. The agreement between OPDS and the parents of the student will be considered null and void although OPDS will make every effort to be of further assistance, as required. However, many schools will refuse to take students who have been expelled from previous places because of drug taking.

Alcohol

Consumption of alcohol by students is not permitted. However, some colleges may have areas / times where limited drinking is allowed for some senior students. (Note: it is against the law in the United Kingdom for persons under the age of 18 to purchase alcohol).

Cigarettes

Smoking is not permitted in school buildings or any home stay accommodation at any time. Smoking is now banned in public places and it is against the law in the United Kingdom for persons under the age of 16 to purchase cigarettes.
